However, for many small enterprises, the costs can be prohibitive and there are alternatives.

• Make sure you have an efficient quality management system and make the quality manager role part-time.
• Assemble a quality team from your existing staff, and distribute the responsibilities.
• Outsource the role to a quality management consultant
